B2B advertising

The LinkedIn Ads agency that focuses on your B2B leads

The click is expensive, and that is a deliberate choice. Our strategists target business decision-makers and measure profitability all the way to the sale closed in your CRM, well beyond the completed form.

“We tried LinkedIn. It cost too much.”

That sentence comes up again and again. What happened: targeting that was too broad, a pointless comparison with Google's cost per click and a hasty conclusion after three weeks. On a long-cycle B2B sale, three weeks tell you nothing.

Margin per sale is the measure of success, well ahead of cost per lead.

Paying more per click to reach exactly the director of one of the 100 companies able to buy your solution is one of the most profitable investments there is. A one-dollar click to reach just anyone costs more, more slowly.

When LinkedIn is the right choice

From what budget and what sale value LinkedIn is justified

A customer is worth a lot. Annual contract, subscription, equipment, professional service. When a customer is worth little, the cost of acquisition eats the margin before the lead is even qualified, and we will tell you to go elsewhere.

The buyer can be identified by their job title. Director of operations, head of purchasing, HR director, plant engineer. That is what LinkedIn does better than any other platform to land sales.

The market is narrow. A few hundred target companies, not a few hundred thousand. Google search is not enough because those people are not searching yet.

The affordable cost of acquisition is known, or you agree to measure it. On the most expensive platform per click of the four, you need enough closed sales to conclude anything at all. Without that figure, you are paying for noise.

Otherwise, we tell you. In many B2B engagements, the money is better placed in Google Ads on existing demand, and LinkedIn comes in during the second quarter to accelerate revenue.

Our method

Expert execution for the long B2B cycle

01

The account list (ABM)

We build the list of companies that look like your most profitable customers. Then we specifically target their decision-makers.

02

Message sequence

Nobody asks for a demo on first contact. We expose the business problem, we prove the solution, then we invite action.

03

Measurement all the way to the sale

We connect LinkedIn to your CRM. What we want to know is how many $50,000 sales were closed, well ahead of the number of “likes”.

04

Budget allocation

We cut the segments that fill in generic forms without producing gross margin, and we reinforce the ones that move the sales pipeline forward.

The formats we use

Four ad formats for qualified leads

01Sponsored contentThe basic format. A single image or a document, in the feed. This is where the profitability problem gets recognized, before any request.
02Native lead formFilled in automatically: it costs little, but it also gets filled in without much conviction. We use it for content, rarely for a qualified meeting request.
03Short videoTo show a product that is easier to understand in motion, or to put a face on the company. Useful at the top of the sales sequence, ahead of conversion.
04Website retargetingOften the most profitable segment in the account. Capturing the buyers who have read your service pages and have not yet contacted you to sign.

Sponsored private messages remain the exception: they exhaust the budget very quickly on a narrow audience.

Definition

What is LinkedIn Ads?

LinkedIn Ads is the advertising platform of the LinkedIn professional network. What sets it apart is the targeting: rather than interests, it lets you aim at job titles, functions, seniority levels, company sizes, industries, or a named list of companies. The cost of acquisition is markedly higher there than on the other platforms, which makes it relevant for high-margin, long-cycle B2B sales and poorly suited to low-ticket offers.

Pricing

What LinkedIn Ads management costs

LinkedIn on its own, or LinkedIn added to an existing account. The fee follows your media budget for the month.

Above $100,000 of media budget a month: a custom agreement.

  • As an additional platform: from $500 a month depending on the tier.
  • LinkedIn has the most expensive click of the four platforms. It is the value of your average sale that decides whether it is worth it, rather than a minimum budget.

The tier is agreed with you before the month, and it comes back down the following month if your budget comes back down. The full rules.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What minimum budget does it take?+

Enough to reach your audience several times over a full quarter. On a narrow audience, that can be modest. What costs sales is a budget that runs out in three weeks, before the buying cycle has moved.

Why is the cost per click so high?+

Because inventory is limited and everyone is aiming at the same decision-makers. The right reflex is to check in your CRM that those clicks generate profitable sales, rather than trying to lower it.

Do we need an active LinkedIn page to advertise?+

Technically no, in practice yes. A decision-maker who sees your ad will look at your page to gauge reliability. An abandoned page cancels out the advertising.

How long before we can judge profitability?+

A quarter to read the lead signals (pipeline), and the length of your sales cycle to judge real margin. We set the business benchmarks with you at the start.

Do you work with our CRM?+

Yes, it is a condition. Pipeline sales must flow back into the advertising account: it is the only acceptable measure of profitability, and it is what we optimize on.
