What is a pre-built site?
A pre-built site (often called a static site) is a site whose every page is made in advance and served ready, instead of being assembled by a server on each visit. The text, images and prices arrive in the page's code. Only the elements that have to react, such as a form, load their code afterwards. The result is fast display, content that crawlers can read and a very small attack surface.
On-demand rendering versus pages made in advance
A dynamic site, such as a classic WordPress site, builds the page when someone requests it: the server queries a database, assembles the template, then sends the result. A pre-built site does that work once, before the visit. The pages become ready files, served from a global delivery network (distributed servers that bring each page closer to its visitor).
The difference does not show on a mockup. Yet it decides display speed, what is exposed to attacks and how the site holds up when it grows from a hundred pages to a thousand.
What it changes for SEO and AI
The content is already in the code of every page. Google's crawlers and those of AIs such as ChatGPT read it as it arrives, without waiting for a script to fill an empty page. Structured data markup can also be produced for every page at build time.
The speed comes from the construction rather than from a setting added later. It remains fragile, though: an ad tracking tool, a chat widget or an integration added afterwards can bring it down. Each addition is measured before it is installed.
When on-demand rendering stays the right choice
A pre-built site is not the universal answer. A change goes live after the pages are rebuilt, not to the second. On-demand rendering keeps the advantage in three situations:
- the team publishes several times a day and wants each change online immediately;
- the site relies on processing at visit time, such as a customer account area or a catalogue with changing stock;
- no one can take on a more technical publishing chain.
For an online store, a platform such as Shopify is often a better fit.
Take a hypothetical case: a professional services firm has 120 pages that change a few times a month. On a dynamic site, every visit puts a server and a database to work. The same site, pre-built, serves 120 ready files. The enquiry form stays interactive: only its code loads in addition.
The day the firm renames a service across 40 pages, the pages are rebuilt, then replaced in one go. Visitors never see a half-changed page.
The pre-built site is the architecture we favour for business sites, content sites and catalogues: it is the one behind our AI-managed website offer and behind falia.co. We choose it because speed, readability for crawlers and security come from the construction itself.
We still ask the question before recommending it: how often the content changes, what share of the traffic is bought, who publishes. An architecture chosen out of habit is an architecture that was never chosen. For an online store or a real application, we recommend something else.
Not to be confused with
- Dynamic site
- A dynamic site assembles each page on demand from a database. A pre-built site makes it once, before the visit, then serves it as is.
- Caching
- A cache keeps a temporary copy of a page assembled by a server to speed up later visits. The server and its database stay in place and exposed.
- Site without forms
- A pre-built site is not a frozen site: its forms, carousels and interactive tools work. Only their code loads in addition to the content.

Frequently asked questions
Can a pre-built site have a contact form?
Yes. The text, images and prices arrive ready, then the elements that have to react load their own code. A form, a carousel or a calculator therefore works normally. What disappears is the server that rebuilds the whole page on every visit.
Is a static site better for SEO?
It gives a solid base: the content is in the code from the first second and display is fast. Rankings still depend on what the page says, on its structure and on the links pointing to it. The architecture removes obstacles; it does not replace SEO work.
Can I edit a pre-built site myself?
Yes, but not in a dashboard like WordPress. With our AI-managed website offer, you write the change in your own words to Claude or ChatGPT. The change goes through automatic checks, then through an approval before it goes live.
