A Shopify migration is won before launch day

The risk in a Shopify migration doesn't come from the products: they move over well. It comes from the URLs. Shopify imposes its own paths (/products/, /collections/, /pages/), so almost every URL in your store changes. Without redirects, Google and your customers land on pages that no longer exist.

The redirect plan is done before the switch.

When we rebuilt our own site, we matched 587 old URLs one by one. Your Shopify migration gets the same care: every URL that brings you traffic or sales has its destination before launch day.

What we migrate

What your Shopify migration includes

Products and their variants. Titles, descriptions, prices, images, variants, inventory and attributes. During the Shopify migration, we also fix what was holding back your sales: incomplete product pages, poorly sorted categories.

Customers and orders. Customer accounts, addresses and order history carry over so your customer service team keeps all the information.

URLs and redirects. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to the matching new Shopify page, never to the home page. That is the heart of a successful Shopify migration.

Page SEO. Title tags, meta descriptions, collection text and structured data follow the pages. See also Shopify SEO.

Payments, taxes and shipping. GST, QST and the taxes of other provinces, payment methods, carriers and shipping rates are set up and tested before opening.

Feeds and sales tracking. Google Shopping and Meta feeds are reconnected and GA4 receives purchases from the new store from day one, so your campaigns keep running and you can compare before and after the Shopify migration.

Our method

The steps of a Shopify migration

01

Taking stock of the current store

We list every product, every page and every URL that receives traffic, using your Search Console and your sales data.

02

The redirect plan

Every old URL gets its destination in the new store. This Shopify migration plan is approved with you before any switch.

03

Data transfer and the new store

Products, customers, orders, theme, apps, payments and taxes: the Shopify store is built and tested while the old one keeps selling.

04

The switch and the follow-up

On launch day, the redirects go live with the domain change. Over the following weeks, we watch Search Console and sales after the Shopify migration to correct any gap.

Your current platform

Shopify migration from WooCommerce, Wix, Magento or Lightspeed

Every platform has its traps. Our Shopify migration plan accounts for them from the inventory stage.

01

WooCommerce to Shopify

WooCommerce URLs (/product/, /product-category/) all change. Plugins that added fields to products need an equivalent in Shopify.

02

Wix or Squarespace to Shopify

The catalogue is often small but content pages are many. The Shopify migration also moves the articles and pages that attract traffic.

03

Magento or Lightspeed to Shopify

Large catalogues, complex variants and customer-specific pricing: these stores often aim for Shopify Plus and an ERP connection.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Shopify migration cost?+

A Shopify migration is part of a Shopify project, offered from $4,900, or a Shopify Plus project, offered from $25,000. The price depends on the number of products, customers and orders to move, the integrations and the design. You receive a written quote after we take stock of your store.

Will we lose our search rankings by moving to Shopify?+

A poorly prepared Shopify migration can cost you positions, because Shopify imposes its own URLs (/products/, /collections/). With a complete redirect plan, set up before the switch and checked after it, you greatly improve your chances of keeping your traffic.

How long does a Shopify migration take?+

Plan for at least two months for a complete Shopify migration: inventory, data transfer, theme, redirects, testing and launch. A large catalogue or an ERP connection can take longer.

Can we keep our customers, orders and reviews?+

Yes, in most cases. Products, customers and order history all carry over in a Shopify migration. Customer passwords do not transfer: your customers receive an invitation to activate their account.

Should we redesign the store during the migration?+

Not necessarily. A Shopify migration can keep the current look of your store or double as a redesign. Keeping the two apart lowers the risk: change platforms first, then improve the design.

Do you also migrate stores to Shopify Plus?+

Yes. A Shopify Plus migration follows the same method, with integrations, B2B catalogues and automation on top. See our Shopify Plus agency.

Why leave WooCommerce for Shopify?+

Businesses that leave WooCommerce often do so to stop managing hosting, plugins and security updates. Shopify takes care of that technical side. If your WooCommerce store sells well and stays easy to manage, we may also advise you to keep it.
